It's a Freak'in Rabbit Comic!
![]() | |||||
| This comic idea was prompted from Philly Zine Fest buddy, the wonderfully witty writer, Walter of Henry's Trashcan, with whom I'm experimenting some sort of creative collaboration. For how long/when? We'll see... |
For those of you who wanna know, I used a program called Comic Life to make this. Plus, I used photoshop and google images (shh!) to create the characters.

Jump in the Line
Why? Why can't I get this song out of my head?
And what's up with the steamy Belafonte/Ms. Piggy photo. Scandalous!
-Thanks Jack B for making this video!

Philly Zine Fest 2010
So I attended my first zine festival EVER! With my little friend, Igor, too.
It was fun. And I also forgot my camera, of course. But I was there. Just ask all the cool new people I met and traded zines with yesterday. All their stuff is in this hobo suitcase right here.*
*This hobo suitcase, I think, freaked out an organizer, C., of the event b/c I was gonna totally DIY sell my stuff out of this valise on a chair (yeah, because I'm that much of a cheap-ass mofo, maybe next time I'll just cough up the bucks to pay for half a table or something. I just have no shame about being ghettofabulous. It's just me.) But C. was kind enough to offer me a small table on which this valise was perched so that it kept the event looking more "official."
Anyway, I brought the little sick origami fishies and the zines that went inside them which were popular items. Also those colorful comic zines tucked into the suitcase pockets are the 2nd issue of "Let's Be Happy" which includes past comics I've posted on this blog. I really enjoyed trading them and will hopefully soon post reviews of favorite zines I've read/will read as a way to continue creative juices flowing since I'll be on a mini-sabbatical from publishing comics anytime soon. Gotta get on top of taking care of some real life happenings. Not sure when/where the next zine fest I'll participate will be, but I can't wait.
Until then, much love - Sassy Spinster

| I made this fish comic and origami fish (times 150!) for Sept's issue of mail art collective Uncle Envelope . |
Hurricane Katrina, 5th Anniversary
Thought I'd share this detailed, graphic novel account of actual survivors/interviewees of Hurricane Katrina. It's a great resource in learning about the differences of experiences due to race and class disparities as well as poor evacuation support from the government. The book is by Josh Neufield
and it's called "AD: After the Deluge"
